Find your peace within

Alice Payne Heath is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor and a Certified Clinical Sandtray Therapist with over 28 years of experience working in a variety of settings with children, teens, and their families.

“I specialize in children ages 3 and up and use a variety of therapeutic techniques such as Play Therapy, art, and through sand tray play. I use Trauma Focused CBT to help children express feelings about trauma and learn coping skills. I also use Parent-Child Interactive Therapy to assist in increasing cooperation and building stronger bounds.”

Alice believes that every individual has the inherent strengths and internal resources to confront life's challenges and find healing. No two persons are the same; therefore, individualized treatment plans are created that specifically address the individual’s needs and style of communication, with the goal of assisting the clients she works with in achieving their whole potential and emotional well-being. Alice partners with individuals and their families to create goal-oriented therapy treatment. Creating a safe and supportive environment for each individual is a primary commitment.

Alice attended Houston Baptist University and has a Master of Art in Psychology. She is trained in Play Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Parent-Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT). Alice is also a supervisor for those pursuing their LPC and/or Registration of Play Therapy. She has developed a curriculum and taught two play therapy courses to assist those wanting to obtain their Registration of Play Therapy. Alice is a member of the Sam Houston Association of Play Therapy, the Texas Association of Play Therapy and the Association of Play Therapy.

Alice is a native Houstonian. She enjoys spending time with family, watching or reading mysteries, playing games, painting, playing with her dog and guinea pigs, and learning to speak Swedish. For fun she is also a member of the Swedish Club of Houston and enjoys celebrating her Scandinavian roots with others.
